On the 10th of Sept 1997 Senator Edward Kennedy stated whilst discussing an FDA reform bill. "The cosmetic industry has borrowed a page from the playbook of the tobacco industry by putting profits ahead of public health... Cosmetics can be dangerous to your health. Yet this greedy industry wants Congress to prevent the American people from learning the truth. Every woman who uses face cream, or hair spray, or lipstick, or shampoo, or mascara, or powder should demand this arrogant and irresponsible power-play by the industry be rejected. A study by the respected, non-partisan General Accounting Office reported that more than 125 ingredients available for use in cosmetics are suspected of causing cancer! Other ingredients cause adverse effects on the nervous system, including convulsions. Still other ingredients are suspected of causing birth defects! A carefully controlled study found one in sixty users suffered a cosmetic related injury identified by a doctor!"

"Poor regulation, self regulation and a blizzard of
confusing and contrary data has resulted in a tragically large number of
chemicals making it into our personal lives with little or no warnings
attached. Most people have no idea, for example, what the personal
care products they use every day are doing to them.
Health concerns are continuously being raised about
ingredients in shampoos, toothpastes, skin creams... Researchers in Japan
Germany, Switzerland and the US say many ingredients in personal care
products may be related to premature baldness, cataract formation,
environmental cancers, contact dermatitis and eye damage in young
children...
884 chemicals available for use in cosmetics have
been reported to the US Government as toxic substances..."

SLS is a harsh detergent found in almost all shampoos and more than a few toothpastes. Pick up a cross section of these products next time you visit a supermarket and you will find SLS or SLES in pride of place under the ingredients label. SLS started its career as an industrial degreaser and garage floor cleaner. When applied to human skin it has the effect of stripping off the oil layer and then irritating and eroding the skin, leaving it rough and pitted... Shampoos with SLS retard healing and stop children's eyes from developing properly... SLS may cause cataracts in adults... SLS has a low molecular weight and is easily absorbed by the body... It builds up in the heart, liver and lungs and brain and is associated with health problems with these organs... It may cause eczema in susceptible people and may be a contributing factor in the onset of psoriasis... It corrodes hair follicles and impairs the ability of the follicle to grow hair... It causes biological dysfunction of the skin... NEED I SAY MORE? Read the FREE E-Book for the complete story. Your Health.... Your decision!
Ethoxylation is the process that makes degreasing agents such as Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) less harsh and gives them enhanced foaming properties. When SLS is ethoxylated it forms Sodium Lauryth Sulphate (SLES) a compound used in many shampoos, toothpastes, bath gels, bubble baths and industrial cleaners and degreasants. The problem is the extremely harmful compound 1,4-dioxane which may be created during the ethoxylation process, contaminating the product. 1,4-dioxane is one of the related dioxins used in the "Agent Orange" debacle in the Vietnam war where thousands of unborn foetuses suffered deformities and millions suffered severe ongoing health problems for years later. Dioxin is a hormonal disrupter and is believed to be the principle cause of a host of cancers suffered by Vietnam military personnel after the war. It is also an oestrogen mimicking chemical and is implicated in increased risk of endometrial cancer, breast cancer, lower sperm counts and chronic fatigue illness. Dr Samuel Epstein reports: "The best way to protect yourself is to recognise ingredients most likely to be contaminated with 1,4-dioxane. These include ingredients with the prefix word, or syllable PEG, Polyethylene Glycol, Polyoxyethylene, eth (as in sodium lauryeth sulphate), or oxynol. Both polysorbate 60 and polysorbate 80 may also be contaminated with 1,4-dioxane." Your Health.... Your decision!
Propylene Glycol is a common ingredient used extensively in industry as a component of brake fluids, paint, varnishes and anti-freeze compounds. It also appears in many beauty creams, body lotions, cleansers, make up, toothpaste, baby wipes and other children's personal care products. Warning labels on drums of PG used in industry clearly state that the chemical is poisonous and to wear protective clothing when handling the concentrate. If spilt on the skin, to wash off immediately with soap and water and to seek medical advice! It even used to be added to ice cream not many years ago, ostensibly for the purpose of keeping the ice cream soft! Fortunately, due to government intervention food manufacturers are no longer able to use this dangerous chemical in our food! However, this chemical is just as easily absorbed into the human body, via the skin, as it is by ingestion. Propylene glycol routinely appears in the top three ingredients in many personal care items, indicating that it is present in high concentration. It has been shown to cause adverse health effects and has been found to cause kidney damage and liver abnormalities... It damages cell membranes causing rashes, dry skin, contact dermatitis and surface damage to the skin... It is toxic to human cells in cultures. YOUR HEALTH... YOUR DECISION! I could go on giving you example after example on this website of chemicals you will find in your personal care products. Chemicals which are proven to be carcinogenic and toxic when test animals are exposed to them. Now I don't condone the use of animals for testing chemicals but do you think that humans may be the only exception when it comes to developing cancer from exposure to these toxins? I am sure you are starting to appreciate that there just may be a serious problem with many chemicals by now. You need all the facts on toxic chemicals and what you can do about eliminating all of them from your personal care products. The best ways of eliminating toxic chemicals from your diet and from your environment. This is all covered in detail in my comprehensive FREE E-Book on Natural Health. You will not only learn which manufacturer is making toxic chemical free products, but you will also read of the best ways of preventing metabolic disease and degenerative disease.
